BLURB

‘So you don’t like mysteries! Isn’t it?’ Fotu-Babu was outrageous all of a sudden. ‘Then listen to it straightway you son-of-a-bitch. You are not my son. You are the product of a heinous act of your mother and what a whore she is!’Boltu felt his body going limp.’ Boltu was in his late teens when he discovered this rancorous truth of his life. By that time he had already been an antisocial, an outlaw and had been in bad company; but there was a subtle difference – he was a dreamer, he was a tender lover, he could sing and he had a true friend in Madhab. He wished to do something worthwhile; yet he lacked direction. Would Boltu keep drifting aimlessly? Or would he find his destination? Whether the destination would be worth its salt?

VERDICT: Inspiration is just a word but giving weightage to it Debaprasad Mukherjee has created a piece of literature down to earth very simple in content but rich in values.

REVIEW: My attempt here is not to reveal the story line because that is what you must read and enjoy by purchasing the book. I would like to highlight certain very important aspects that the author through his debut book has eloquently displayed. The Cover though not that attractive speaks for the story of a normal life of Boltu, the protagonist, which is filled with uncertainties. The Themes dealt are relevant and apt, they are survival instinct, friendship, relationship, love, betrayal, altruism, and financial hegemony. The descriptions are to be admired giving a hint to the authors real life experience with such characters. So the arrangement of plot and the development of characters is classic. Basically it is a journey that will empower you to live a confident life through obstacles and overcome them giving meaning and sense to your life. Boltu is certain to inspire you.

  1. Unfortunately, the book screams to the heavens in protest, calling for competent editing by someone who is capable of using modern colloquial English. The purple prose and misuse of words – like “outrageous” instead of “outraged” in your extract above – is extremely off putting.
